Yuja Wang is taking her audience somewhere entirely new, with the help of her good friends People of Earth and Ahmed Alom.

People of Earth is New York's premier Latin Supergroup, musicians from around the world dedicated to leaving their mark on American Timba: a fusion of Cuban timba with hip-hop, gospel, and Caribbean styles. This is music that pulls audiences out of their seats.

Ahmed Alom is the band's pianist and a rising star in his own right. Born in Havana and classically trained, he's a world-class improviser equally at home in the concert hall and the club, which makes him exactly the artist to write for Yuja and the band at once.

Together they've built a program of classical through lines, improvisation, and timba, anchored by Alom's new concerto for Yuja and the band, La Diáspora. This summer it comes to four of America's most prestigious festival stages, bringing music with Cuban roots to American audiences while the island itself endures turmoil.
